Japanese animation: an entry point for the curious
People often think it's one single thing. Really, it's a galaxy of genres for every taste.
Japanese animation both fascinates and intimidates. Many don't dare dive in, convinced it's a closed world reserved for insiders. It's the opposite: there's something for absolutely every taste.
An unsuspected variety
Under one label hide light comedies, adult dramas, science fiction, sports, fantasy. Saying you 'don't like' Japanese animation is like saying you don't like music in general.
To start well, pick a short, self-contained story rather than an endless saga. You test the style without committing to hundreds of episodes, and you quickly see if it clicks.
Original version recommended
As with many works, the subtitled original version better preserves the intent and the emotion. It's also a golden chance to familiarize yourself with a new language, almost without realizing it.
