Binge-watching: good idea or bad?
Bingeing it all at once is tempting. But it changes how you experience a story. Here's the case for and against.
Binge-watching has become a reflex: starting a series and not stopping until the end. It's thrilling, but it's not neutral. Chaining episodes truly changes how you experience a story.
The exhilarating side
The upside is total immersion. You stay in the world, never lose the thread, and suspense carries you from one episode to the next. For some fast-paced series, it's even the best way to experience them.
The downside is overload. Chaining episodes blurs everything, emotions dull, and you quickly forget what you watched. Not to mention the hours of sleep that often go with it.
Finding your own pace
The right approach is to listen to the series and to your body. Some deserve slow savoring, others call for a marathon. And if you're falling asleep, the best decision is usually to go to bed.
