The algorithm explained simply (no jargon)

It's neither magic nor a conspiracy: just a machine guessing what keeps you hooked.

A recommendation algorithm watches what you view, for how long, what you like or share. From that, it serves you more of the same. It's a system that learns from your gestures.

Your time is the real currency

The main goal of a feed is to keep you there. Every video that holds you one more second is a small win for the machine. It's not evil, it's just how it's designed.

You can train it

Every like, every pause, every follow is a signal. If you feed your feed with content that gives you something, it follows. You're not totally passive in front of it.

Understanding this changes everything: you go from a passive spectator to a user who decides. The algorithm stays a tool, and it's on you to hold it rather than be held.
