Backing up your data: never losing it all at once
Stolen phone, broken device, hacked account: without a backup, it all goes. With one, you breathe.
We store years of memories and documents on a single device. The day it breaks, gets stolen or hacked, everything can vanish in an instant. A backup is your safety net against that moment of panic.
The simple rule
Keep your data in more than one place: for example on your device and in an online space, or on an external drive. That way, if one fails, the other remains. Many phones offer an automatic backup you set up just once.
Think especially of what's irreplaceable: photos, important documents, projects. The rest can often be found again, but a unique memory, once lost, doesn't come back. Prioritise what you could never recreate.
Securing your backups too
An online backup deserves the same protections as everything else: a strong password and two-factor authentication. It would make no sense to protect your phone well and leave a copy of everything open to anyone.
