Intimate photo blackmail: never give in, take action

If someone threatens you with an image, know one thing: you're the victim, not the guilty one.

Image blackmail is when someone threatens to spread an intimate photo or video to get money, more images or something else. It's a crime, and the person targeted has nothing to feel guilty about, whatever happened.

The reflexes that protect you

Never pay and never send more images: giving in only fuels the blackmail. Stop the contact, keep evidence with screenshots, block the person and stop replying to their threats.

Then talk to a trusted adult straight away and report the situation. This kind of situation is too heavy to handle alone, and asking for help is exactly the right decision, not something to be ashamed of.

Services exist for exactly this

In Luxembourg, support and reporting services can guide you through this kind of threat, free and confidentially. You don't have to find every answer alone: guiding you is literally their job.
