Useful apps for travel: before, during and after departure
A well-equipped phone becomes your best travel companion.
When travelling, your phone can do a lot of the work: finding a train, storing your tickets, finding your way without signal. The key is installing what you need before leaving, not at the last minute on a platform. Also think about downloading whatever must work offline.
Getting around and finding your way
Keep the transport apps for your destination region handy, plus a map you can check without a connection. Nothing worse than searching for a route with a flickering signal bar. Also figure out how paying for transport works on site.
Keeping your info safe
Back up your important documents in a protected space and note an emergency contact reachable even on a locked screen. Turn on whatever lets you locate your phone if it's lost. These settings take a few minutes and save you big trouble.
Still, be careful: an app doesn't replace your common sense or a paper plan B. Always keep one key piece of info written somewhere in case your battery dies. Tech helps, but you're the one travelling.
