Sharing content is a bigger move than it looks. When you pass something on, you give it visibility and a bit of your credibility. Best to avoid the classic mistakes that can backfire on you.

The common slip-ups

The first mistake: sharing without reading past the headline. Many headlines promise something the content doesn't deliver. The second: passing on shocking news without checking the source. The third: sharing a photo or video of a person without their consent.

Another trap: reacting in the heat of anger. An angry message posted too fast can follow you for a long time. What seems harmless in the moment can become awkward when someone digs it up later, entirely out of context.

The right reflex

Before sharing, ask yourself three quick questions: is it true, is it useful, is it respectful? If you hesitate, wait. That small pause costs nothing and spares you most trouble. Sharing less but better is already a strength.
