The biggest barrier to sport isn't talent or money: it's the idea that you first need to buy a pile of stuff. Wrong. Your body is already all the equipment you need to start, and a decent pair of trainers covers most basic activities.

The moves that cost nothing

Brisk walking, stair climbs, wall push-ups, squats, planks: these bodyweight classics work the whole body and fit in your bedroom. The goal isn't to destroy yourself on day one, but to build a habit you'll still keep next week.

Start small and steady rather than rare and brutal. A few minutes every day beat one exhausting session a month. Listen to your body: mild discomfort is normal, sharp pain isn't, and if a doubt lingers, talk to a health professional.

The trick: make it easy

Put your trainers by the door, pick a fixed time, and tie the exercise to something you already do, like after school. The fewer decisions you have to make, the more you act. Once the habit sticks, you can add outdoor runs, a public court or a club later.
