Keeping your food fresh for longer
Less waste, more savings: smart storage is a skill you can learn.
Nothing more annoying than tossing food forgotten at the back of the fridge. Storing well means money saved and waste avoided. And these are really simple habits to pick up.
Every food in its place
Some fruit ripens better outside the fridge, others keep cold. Fresh herbs last longer in a glass of water, like a bouquet. Put the oldest products at the front so you use them first.
The freezer, your forgotten ally
Lots of foods and cooked dishes freeze very well: bread, leftovers, portions of sauce. Label your containers with the date so you keep track. It's the best way to lose nothing when you've cooked too much.
When in doubt about a food, a simple rule: if unsure, throw it out. But stored well from the start, that doubt comes up far less often.
