Writing your first song: starting without the pressure

No need to be a poet: a song often begins from one tiny idea.

The blank page is scary, but a song almost never begins as a masterpiece. It starts from a line, a chord or an emotion you need to let out.

Capture first, fix later

Record your ideas as they come, even rough, on your phone. You polish later: what matters is not letting the spark slip away.

Write about what you genuinely know. Sincerity always moves people more than an impressive but hollow lyric.
