Seasonal events offer incredible settings to get into photography. Lights, colours, movement: everything's there to practise without pro gear. Your phone is plenty to start.

Play with the light

The secret to a good night shot is light: hunt for neon, fairy lights and reflections. Try different angles before you press, it changes everything. A funfair is a perfect playground for that.

Capture the mood, not just the scene

The best photos tell a story: a laugh, a glance, a hand reaching for candy floss. Don't chase perfection, chase emotion. That's what makes your images alive and unique.

One last tip: always ask before photographing someone up close. Respect matters too, and it spares you plenty of awkwardness.
