The sketchbook: draw a little every day
A pen, a notebook, five minutes a day: that's all you need to improve.
People often think you need to "know how to draw" before you start. It's actually the opposite: you learn by drawing, and a notebook always within reach is the best teacher there is.
Draw what's right in front of you
Your mug, your sneakers, someone's hand on the bus: everyday objects are perfect for practice. Don't chase pretty, chase truthful, and really observe the shapes.
Embrace the messy pages
A sketchbook is a testing ground, not a gallery. Ugly pages are part of the path, and nobody has to see them. What matters is consistency, not perfection.
