The classic mistakes when you start out in sport
Avoiding these early traps will save you months of motivation.
Almost everyone makes the same mistakes when starting, and most have nothing to do with talent. Knowing them in advance means you avoid the discouragement that makes so many people quit after two weeks.
Trying to go too fast
The first mistake is doing too much too soon. You're motivated, you stack sessions that are too long and too hard, and your body ends up protesting. The result: aches, fatigue and quitting. Start small and build up gradually, that's the key.
Second trap: neglecting rest. The body doesn't improve during effort but during recovery. Grinding non-stop without ever breathing sabotages your own progress. Sleep and rest days are part of training.
Comparing yourself to others
Finally, stop comparing yourself to people who've been at it for years. Your only useful benchmark is yourself a month ago. Listen to your body, go at your own pace, and if pain persists, see a health professional.
