The classic mistakes when you go out in deep winter
Winter outings must be earned: here's how to avoid ending up frozen and grumpy.
In winter, going out takes a bit more preparation than in summer. We all have that friend who shows up in a hoodie and shivers all evening. A few simple habits completely change the experience.
Underestimating the cold
The first mistake is dressing for the trip, not the whole evening. Layer up rather than wearing one thick jumper: you regulate better between outside and inside. A pair of gloves is a genuine game-changer.
Skipping the backup plan
Another trap: planning no warm place to settle. Scout a covered spot in advance to warm up if the cold gets too biting. It stops the night ending early just because no one can feel their feet.
Finally, don't count on your phone lasting all night: cold drains batteries faster. Charge fully before leaving and keep at least one phone in reserve in the group.
