Critical thinking toward trends: 5 questions to ask yourself
Before riding the wave, a mini checklist to keep a cool head.
Following a trend is nothing bad. The problem is following it without thinking. A few quick questions are enough to know whether you're really choosing, or just being carried along.
The questions that matter
Who benefits from this going viral? Does it put anyone at risk? Does it push you to buy? Would I do it without a camera? Does it actually make me happy?
Answering honestly
If a trend passes all these questions, go for it, have fun. If it snags on just one, you have your answer. Critical thinking isn't being negative, it's just choosing consciously.
With practice, these questions become a reflex that takes seconds. You keep the fun of trends without becoming their plaything.
