Exploring Luxembourg City without a car: a one-day route
Tram, walking and a bit of cycling are all you need to discover the capital from morning to night.
Discovering the capital without a car is not only possible, it's often nicer. The city is great for walking, the tram links the main districts, and the bike fills the gaps. You see more when you move slowly.
Linking districts at your own pace
Start in a district reachable by tram, explore it on foot, then take the tram again to reach the next one. In between, a shared bike can save you time on a downhill stretch. Leave yourself room to stop wherever you like.
The capital has the peculiarity of an upper town and a lower town, linked by paths, bridges and public lifts. Taking the time to move between them offers lovely viewpoints, completely free.
End your day by checking your route home in advance. As everywhere, it's better to know the last tram or bus time than to find out on the platform.
