Faced with several languages, we often wonder which one to start with. There's no universal answer: it all depends on what you want to do with it. The idea is to choose based on your daily life and your desires, not on what others tell you to do.

Each language has its turf

Luxembourgish grounds you in local life and everyday exchanges. German opens up reading, school and a large neighbouring region. English is the all-purpose language of the web, shows and travel. None is better, they complement each other.

In Luxembourg, these three languages are part of the official and educational landscape, so you'll be exposed to all three anyway. You might as well consciously decide which one to prioritise.

Start with the one that motivates you

The best choice is the one that makes you want to get started, because motivation does half the work. Once you're going on one language, you build confidence and the next ones come more easily. So follow whatever excites you most.
