Walking: rediscovering the upper and lower town
The most underrated way to travel is also the richest in discoveries.
We often forget it, but walking remains the simplest, freest and most flexible way to travel. In a city like the capital, where heights and valleys meet, walking reveals corners you'd never see from a bus.
Letting the landscape guide you
The upper and lower town are linked by stairs, paths, bridges and even public lifts. Walking down and then coming back up a different way turns a simple trip into a mini urban expedition, without ever paying.
Walking is also the best way to stumble on a mural, a terrace or a viewpoint by chance. Grab decent shoes, a bottle of water, and let curiosity pick the direction.
For busy days, combine walking with the tram: get off a stop early and finish on foot. You keep the comfort while enjoying the benefits of a little movement.
