You don't need a crew to go out. Exploring solo has real advantages.

We tend to think you always need company to go out. Not true. Exploring alone is total freedom: you choose where you go, how long you stay, and you depend on no one. It's also a great way to build confidence.

The upsides of going solo

Alone, you move at your own pace. You can stay an hour in front of an artwork or leave after five minutes - nobody's waiting on you. You notice more, you listen better, and you sometimes meet people you wouldn't have met in a group.

Going out alone with peace of mind

Tell someone close where you're going, keep your phone charged, and favour public, busy places. Choose daytime outings to start with if you're new to this. These simple reflexes let you enjoy yourself with peace of mind.

Going out alone now and then means learning to be comfortable with yourself. And once you get a taste for it, you no longer depend on other people's schedules to experience your city.
