Gaming scams: don't get fleeced

The free skin waiting at the end of the link often costs you your account.

In online gaming, scams target your accounts, your items and sometimes your parents' money. You're promised free items, a gift, a trade too good to be true. The trap plays on the urge for a quick bargain.

The classic traps

Fake skin sites, links sent in private messages, "official" support scams asking for your password. A real service will never ask for your credentials outside the official site. If it's urgent and free, be doubly wary.

Protect your account

Turn on two-factor authentication on your gaming platforms and never trade outside the built-in systems. Never share your credentials, even with an online "friend." When in doubt, end the chat and report it.
