Street basketball: shooting hoops at a court near you
A ball, a hoop, a few mates: street basketball asks for almost nothing.
Street basketball has something few sports offer: you can play two, three or five a side, with no ref or schedule, just by turning up at a court. That freedom makes it one of the most accessible sports for young people.
Starting even on your own
You don't need a team to get going. A free hoop is enough to work your shot, your dribble and your footwork for hours. Those individual basics make you far more useful the day you join a pickup game.
When you play with others, the vibe matters as much as the score. Respect the court's house rules, encourage rather than moan, and you'll soon get invited to the next games. A playground is a meeting spot as much as a court.
Finding a court
Many neighbourhoods in Luxembourg have open-access courts. Spot the one nearest you, drop by when it's busy, and jump in. The best basketball memories often start with a simple 'wanna play one-on-one?'
