Digital detox: taking back control of your phone
Your phone is a great tool, not your boss.
You grab your phone without even thinking, like a reflex. Apps are built to keep you hooked as long as possible. Taking back control isn't deleting everything, it's deciding when and why.
Helpful friction
Move the apps that swallow your time off your home screen and turn off pointless notifications. Create phone-free zones like meals or bed. These little obstacles break the automatic reflex and give you back the choice.
Fill the gap with something you genuinely enjoy: walking, drawing, seeing friends in person. The goal isn't to punish yourself but to reclaim time for what matters. You miss nothing essential by being offline for a while.
If you feel hooked
If cutting back makes you anxious or feels impossible, that's useful to know and nothing to be ashamed of. A trusted adult or a professional can help you find balance. Asking for a hand is always an option.
