Practising a language daily without spending hours on it
Small habits slipped into your day beat one big occasional effort.
You don't need to block off two hours to progress in a language. The secret is to slot mini-doses of practice into the empty moments of your day. These small gestures add up and eventually make a huge difference.
Turn dead time into practice
On public transport, set your phone to a foreign language, listen to a podcast or review a few words. Since public transport is free in Luxembourg, you've got a perfect window to practise calmly.
Also change the language of your apps, your games or your playlists. That way you're bathed in the language all day without even thinking about it, and your brain picks up plenty of little things along the way.
Speak out loud, even alone
Narrate your day in the language you're learning, comment on what you're doing, ask yourself questions. It might feel odd at first, but it's a remarkably effective way to loosen your tongue and gain fluency.
