Packing for a weekend: the checklist that lightens everything
Packing well is already travelling better - here's how to forget nothing useful.
The weekend trap is wanting to bring everything just in case. The result: a bag too heavy that you drag the whole way to use a quarter of what's inside. The golden rule is to travel light and bet on clothes you can mix and match.
The essentials you should never skip
Think first of your documents, a backup way to pay and your charger with a power bank. Add a reusable water bottle, a minimal wash kit and something to cover up if the weather turns. Everything else is negotiable, but these basics save a weekend.
The smart-bag technique
Roll your clothes instead of folding them, it takes less space and wrinkles less. Keep heavy items close to your back for a more stable bag, and store small things in pouches so you don't rummage everywhere. A well-organised bag means a calmer mind on the road.
Before closing the bag, do one last check: do you have a way to charge, a way to pay, a way to get home? If so, the rest can be improvised. A good traveller is someone who has learned to keep it simple.
