Batch cooking: cook once, eat all week
One cooking session on the weekend, and your weekday meals are sorted.
Batch cooking means preparing several meals at once so you don't have to cook every night. When you're juggling classes, sport and homework, it's a real time and energy saver. Cook once, eat for days.
Where to start
Pick two or three bases that keep well: rice, wholewheat pasta, roasted vegetables, a protein source like chickpeas or eggs. You cook these bases in large amounts, then combine them differently each day to avoid boredom.
Storing well is the key
Store your portions in airtight containers and let them cool before sealing. Some dishes freeze very well, others keep a few days in the fridge. When in doubt about storage, trust your nose and basic food hygiene common sense.
Bonus: when your fridge is ready, you resist the pull of constant delivery better. Your wallet and your body will thank you.
