Your data is worth gold: who collects it and why

When a service is free, chances are you're the product.

Many apps and sites you use for free make their money from your data. What you watch, click, search: all of it gets sold to target you with ads. Understanding that already means you stop being taken for a ride.

How it works

Trackers follow your behavior from one site to another to build your profile. The more precise your profile, the more it's worth to advertisers. It's not illegal in itself, but you have the right to know and to say no.

Take some control back

Reject non-essential cookies, limit tracking in your phone settings and skim what you're agreeing to. You won't block everything, but you cut the damage. In Luxembourg, the data protection authority explains your rights.
