Before posting a photo: the ten-second check

A photo sometimes says far more than you meant to show.

A single photo can reveal your address, your school or your routine without you realizing it. A sign in the background, a uniform, an active location tag: all clues. Getting into the habit of checking before you post saves you a lot of trouble.

What's around matters

Check the background before sending: documents, screens, license plates, reflections can leak private info. Turn off location in your camera settings. What you don't show can't be used against you.

And other people's photos?

Posting someone without asking isn't OK, even if you think it's funny. Get their consent, especially if the photo might embarrass them. Online respect starts with that simple question.
