Lettering is the art of drawing beautiful letters, and it needs almost nothing to start. A marker, some paper, and you turn a plain sentence into a graphic object that's satisfying to look at.

Copy before you invent

At first, reproducing existing letter styles is the best training. By imitating, you learn proportions and moves, and your own style eventually emerges on its own.

Slowness is your friend

Unlike fast handwriting, lettering is done calmly, stroke after stroke. That slow pace is exactly what makes it relaxing: it's almost a form of hands-on meditation.
